Given that the couple is referred to as “the Carters,” it’s understandable if some people don’t realize Jay-Z may have taken Beyoncé’s surname after they married.

Jay-Z was born Shawn Carter, but when he married Beyoncé in 2008, he changed his name to Shawn Knowles-Carter, according to reports.

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, the vocalist of “Run The World (Girls),” returned the favor by changing her name to Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

In 2018, Beyoncé and Jay-Z repeated their wedding vows in front of their three children, seven-year-old Blue Ivy and one-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, in a ceremony attended by the couple’s three children.
