Marco Perego-Saldana, husband of Zoe Saldana-Perego

Zoe Saldana, best known for her roles as the lethal warrior Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy and the wise Neytiri in Avatar, married artist Marco Perego in a private ceremony in 2013, just a few months after they began dating.

Saldana revealed two years after their wedding that Perego had opted to break with convention and take her name when they married.

The actress expressed concern that her spouse would be rejected by his peers as a result of his actions.

Saldana told Us Weekly, “I tried to talk him out of it.” “I told him, ‘If you use my name, your community of artists, your Latin community of males, and the world will emasculate you.’
