Pic of the Day: Bee bearding

Bee bearding

Bee bearding – the ancient practice of wearing several hundred honey bees on the face or body, originally done to demonstrate the beekeeper’s rapport with bees.

Beekeeper Bui Duy Nhat, 41, of Vietnam is one of a very few number of people in that Asian country who can engage in the art of bee bearding.

He does so without wearing any protective gear, only covering his ears. He is able to talk and move while covered in thousands of wild bees.

The Vietnamese beekeeper is able to attract the bees to himself by capturing the queen and keeping her on his body.
