Zwane sets sights high for Chiefs’ young guns

Kaizer Chiefs MultiChoice Diski Challenge coach Arthur Zwane believes that developing players to reach the club’s first team is as equally as important as winning games.

Amakhosi’s development team have a number of new players in the ranks including many who played in Chiefs’ U17 side. The Glamour Boys ended in fourth position in the MDC standings last season, six points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nonetheless, Zwane is committed to winning with an eye on developing players for the future. He told his side’s official website, “Our priority is to develop players and to create a winning culture, which is part of Chiefs’ ethos. Everything should be about winning, even though the ultimate goal is to have players good enough to join the first team.

“We have a rather new squad. With most of the players having been promoted from our U17s. They are all talented and it’s our mission to instil that winning mentality. No team wants to lose against Chiefs.”
