Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes Alexis Sanchez will commit his future to the Gunners by signing a new long-term deal with the club.
Sanchez is out of contract at the end of next season and has been linked with several of Europe’s prominent clubs, including Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to the media prior to Arsenal’s match away to Crystal Palace on Monday, Wenger once again played down speculation over Sanchez’s future.
“I believe that basically he wants to stay at the club, it is down to finding an agreement with his agent,” Wenger said.
“As you know the players first have to see if they are happy at the club and most of the time it is down to finding an agreement. Finances are involved, yes.”
Wenger also confirmed that defender Laurent Koscielny will miss the Gunners’ trip to Selhurst Park, although he should be back in contention next week.
“He’s (Koscielny) out for Monday,” added Wenger.
“From Wednesday, nobody should be out. Francis Coquelin is back available, he had problem with his back. He’s in contention again. I don’t believe Petr Cech will be available for Monday night, nor David Ospina.”
