The Genesis brand is already well-established in the South Korean and United States markets, but the Genesis G70 is important as it targets the lower tier of the luxury car market.
“The launch of the Genesis G70 is an important milestone for our brand,” the Head of the Genesis Division, Manfred Fitzgerald, said at the vehicle’s launch in Seoul, South Korea.
“We deliberately chose Seoul, as this is our place of origin. This is where we are coming together with our customers and friends in the music industry to celebrate as a people’s festival,” he said.
The Genesis G70 will be available in a choice of either a 2-litre four-cylinder and 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbocharged petrol engine, similar to that offered in the Kia Stinger range.
To differentiate between the two, the 2.0-litre model will have a passive suspension setup, while the V6 version will be equipped with adaptive suspension.
There will also be a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel version available.
The Genesis G70 was launched to great fan-fare, with a concert headlined by American superstar Gwen Stefani.
