Platinum Stars will look to secure their passage past the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round when they travel to face Uniao Do Songo in their second-leg tie.
Cavin Johnson’s charges head into the tie in Maputo on the back a 0-0 draw against bottom-placed Baroka in their Premiership encounter, however they can take confidence from having registered a 1-0 victory in the first leg of this fixture at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Johnson chastised the Mozambican outfit for their ultra-defensive tactics in the first leg and revealed that they will play with the intention of adding more goals to the aggregate scoreline in Maputo.
“We are happy we got the results. We will go to Mozambique and we will attack them,” he said.
“I believe that they are a team, when playing football, they will leave spaces open and we will be able to score.
“We will fight to maintain the 1-0 lead but to be ultra defensive is not us. I want to go to the next round knowing that we played the Platinum Stars philosophy.”
Apart from the 1-0 loss to Stars in the first leg of the tie, Songo have not been involved in a competitive fixture since the end of October when their league campaign in Mozambique concluded.
The winner of the encounter is likely to face either Uganda’s SC Vipers or Comoro outfit, Volcan de Moroni.
Both sides are expected to each boast a full compliment of players for their fixture which is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 18th at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto with kickoff set for 18h00.
