Turns out THIS iPhone model is MUCH slower than any other

Not all iPhones are made equal, and a new test shows that the cheapest iPhone 7 can be some eight times slower than the more expensive models.

The iPhone 7 starts from £599 for the 32GB entry-level model.

But those who opt for the cheapest iPhone 7 could be a slower phone when compared to the more expensive £699 and £799 models.

Testing from two separate technology blogs has demonstrated the speed of reading data from the iPhone’s in-built storage in the 32GB variation is around 200Mbps slower than its 128GB counterpart.

The 128GB iPhone model clocked impressive read speeds of 856Mbps, while the smaller capacity 32GB handset topped out at 656Mbps.

According to the tests performed by GSMArena and Unbox Therapy, some tasks on the 32GB iPhone 7 could take up to eight times longer than the 128GB version.

Apple’s 32GB variation has to write speeds of some 42Mbps, while the more expensive 128GB model boasts speeds of 341Mbps.

That sounds like a lot. So, is it time to return your iPhone 7 to the Apple Store?

Well, not quite.

In real-world usage, whether you own the cheapest 32GB iPhone 7 or the maxed-out 256GB model, you will very likely have precisely the same experience in terms of performance.

It is entirely normal for the 32GB variant of the iPhone to register slightly slower read-write speeds than its higher-capacity counterparts.

That’s because higher capacity solid-state storage has more parallel channels, and more channels equal higher speeds when transferring data.
