Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Jose Torrealba believes that Amakhosi are a bigger club than current African champions Mamelodi Sundowns because of the other work they do.
Despite Sundowns’ dominance in winning the Premiership title and in scooping Africa’s most prestigious club competition for the first time, Torrealba takes the view that the Glamour Boys are simply a bigger side.
He told the club’s official website, “Both are good, big sides and I have excellent memories from my stay at Chiefs and Sundowns. But Amakhosi are definitely a bigger club as they are involved in much more than football.
“They organise a lot of off-the-field activities so that the supporters can interact with the players. That’s something special and that’s also why their fan base is so huge.”
Both teams meet on Saturday in what could be a crunch clash in the race for the Premiership title. The action gets underway from 20:15 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
