Tinkler turns down Swazi marksman

SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler won’t be signing Swaziland striker Sabelo Ndzinisa, but says he still wants to boost his squad with two players.

Ndzinisa shone in the CAF Confederation Cup with Mbabane Swallows and earned himself a trial at SuperSport.

But the Nedbank Cup champions, who have the likes of Jermey Brockie, Bradley Grobler, Kingston Nkhatha and Prince Dube in attack, as well as a host of goal-scoring midfielders like Thabo Mnyamane and Thuso Phala, are well stocked up front.

“In attack I think we’ve got a lot of players there,” Tinkler told SoccerLaduma.

“I entertained him because obviously, we’re always looking at a player that could add value, but when it comes to a foreign player he needs to be – unless he’s young – better than what we have. Truth be told, we won’t be taking him.”

The former Bafana midfielder said however that Matsatsantsa are still looking to make another two signings, having so far brought in Zimbabwean striker Dube and South African international defender Siyabonga Nhlapo, while Dove Wome has returned from a loan spell at Pirates.

“I won’t reveal positions, but we are still looking to strengthen the team. There are two areas of the squad that I believe we need to strengthen. We want to have a 28-man squad and currently, we’re sitting on 26,” he said.

SuperSport start their season when they face Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 on Saturday night.
