Tinkler pleased with SuperSport discipline

SuperSport United head coach Eric Tinkler admits his side executed their game-plan to perfection to progress to the MTN8 final on Saturday.

Matsatsansa beat a plucky Maritzburg United side 2-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium thanks to a brace from star striker Jeremy Brockie – who returned to the starting XI after handing in a transfer request last month.

The Kiwi’s two goals handed the Tswhane giants a 3-1 aggregate victory and they will now face either Bidvest Wits or Cape Town City in the final.

At the full-time whistle, Tinkler reveled in the tactical discipline of his chargers and insisted any thoughts over the final opposition is premature.

“It was also a lot of work,” Tinlkler said. “We knew we had to match them for effort today and I think we’ve done that. The boys put in a hard shift.

“First half we said we needed to be creative, get behind them. We did that and got the two goals. What was key is that I told the players at half-time not to give anything away and go away with a clean-sheet and we’ve done that.”

“To be honest with you my focus turns to Platinum Stars,” he added when asked about the final.
