Shabba: We have to be prepared

Kaizer Chiefs veteran Siphiwe Tshabalala believes that preparation will be key when the club face Stellenbosch FC in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.

The Glamour Boys were drawn to face the National First Division outfit, although Tshabalala takes the view that the game will not be as easy one.

The outfit from the Western Cape – formerly Vasco da Gama – are sixth in the NFD standings and are pushing for promotion to the Premier Soccer League in 2017/18.

As such, Shabba told the club’s official website that being prepared was important. He said: “We welcome the draw. No team is big or small in football. Stellenbosch are a good team and we are looking forward to play them.

“We are aware of Stellenbosch’s position in the first division. For us to progress to the last 16, we have to be well prepared to beat them.”

Chiefs will play their first league game of 2017 this week when they host Free State Stars on Tuesday at the FNB Stadium. Amakhosi are currently in fourth place and are one point behind joint leaders Cape Town City, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United.
