Kaizer Chiefs Player of the Season, Siphiwe Tshabalala, believes the club failed to honour their promise to win trophies in 2016/17, and that chairman Kaizer Motaung deserves better.
Shabba ended the campaign as Chiefs’ top scorer in all competition with eight strikes, with at least three of his goals said to be goal of the season contenders.
Nonetheless, the 32-year-old revealed he expected the club to try and improve greatly in 2017/18, in order to live up to the legacy that Motaung expects.
He told reporters, “Ja‚ you know‚ our chairman is old. So we cannot have these moments all the time.
“One point is to take responsibility. And promise him that we have a team here. We are a team who can compete. It’s just that we need to up our game. We need to give our best week in‚ week out.
“I think it’s only a fair question to ask. We made a promise and it never happened.”
