Spurs ousted the Barcelona, Internazionale and Manchester City in the race for the ball-playing defender from Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam.
Having spent only one season at the Amsterdam ArenA, the 21-year-old who’s move is still subject to a work-permit and routine medical arrives for a mammoth transfer fee of £42m on a lucrative six-year deal.
“I would like to thank the coach, management, players and fans of Ajax. It is a great move for me to come here to develop my career,” he told the English club’s official website.
“I am very excited to be signing for such a famous club as Tottenham Hotspur. I am looking forward to working with Mauricio Pochettino and the players and meeting everyone there.”
The Colombia international featured 47 times for De Joden after joining from Atlético Nacional and scored seven times for last season’s Europa League finalists.
