Chippa United interim-coach coach Mbuyiselo Sambu has urged the relegation threatened side to show some determination in a bid to retain the Premiership status.
The Port Elizabeth based outfit’s miserable league form continued on Friday evening with their fifth successive league defeat. This time against fellow strugglers Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium, with Collins Mbesuma scoring the only goal of the game.
The 65th minute penalty from the veteran forward moved the Lions of the North above the Chilli Boys, who are now in 15th place and occupying the relegation play-off spot, with two games remaining.
“We have to fight, we have to keep fighting because if we give up now then we are not helping our situation,” Sambu said after the game.
“It is just a matter of now making sure we fight for this team, fight for all the people in the Eastern Cape to make sure that we get out of this situation.
“It’s a matter of us making sure we get back together and make sure we are really organised for the next game.”
The Nedbank Cup semi-finalists next two league fixtures are against Superport United and Free State Stars on the 17th and 20th of May respectively.
