Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has denied saying the number of Super Eagles players he could potentially select from the Chinese Super League will be limited.
This news came after reports claimed Rohr had stated there would be a cap on the number of China-based Nigerian players in his future squads.
But the coach says the stories are false.
“My attention has been drawn to a story quoting me as setting a limit on number of players to be invited from the Chinese League,” Rohr was quoted saying on the official Twitter account of the Nigerian national team.
“It’s not good for me to get used to seeing stories credited to me that I do not know anything about or read words I never said.
“I therefore implore our media friends to be more professional in this regard so we can together get Nigeria football to the top.”
Captain John Obi Mikel and striker Odion Ighalo recently moved to China, while Brown Ideye is expected to follow shortly.
