Troughton was appointed as coach of Stars in early July, after they decided not to continue to employ Serame Letsoaka following some indifferent form at the end of last season.
Nonetheless, the 53-year-old has not lasted long in charge and has now followed Letsoaka out of the exit door. Reports suggest that Luc Eymael, who enjoyed a brief but successful spell in charge of Polokwane City in 2016/17, will take over the reins.
Stars’ decision to end their relationship with Troughton appears to be based on results, although the club have played just twice in the Premiership – losing to AmaZulu in their opening fixture, before gaining a draw against champions Bidvest Wits.
The club are yet to officially confirm who will take over the hotseat following their previous mentor’s departure, yet, it seems clear that an announcement will be forthcoming in the near future.
