The 24-year-old was one of the more experienced players within the Eredivisie side’s squad, with 121 appearances to his name since joining the club as a teenager in 2011 from Erovnuli Liga side Saburtalo Tbilisi.
The attacking midfielder has now sealed a move to the US after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Henk Fraser, and follows Marvelous Nakamba and Ricky van Wolfswinkel – who made switches for FC Basel and Club Brugge respectively.
The MLS side’s general manager Jesse Fioranelli says they are thrilled to have secured the services of the Georgia international.
“We were looking for a player, a younger, offensive player, that really excites the fans and has the possibility to stay with us for a long period of time,” he told the club’s website. “That’s what we found with Vako.
“We wanted a player that knows how to take on a defender one-on-one, that sees the goal and that also wants to bring a spark to our game.”
Qazaishvili scored 25 goals and registered 10 assists in 104 Eredivisie games during his six-year spell in the Netherlands.
