According to local publication City Press, an R80m grant has been split between the top-flight and National First Division teams.
Each Premiership outfit will be rewarded with R4m each, while the NFD sides have been granted R1m apiece for the upcoming campaign.
Despite the meeting being held without any representation from the media, a source revealed that executive members of the respective clubs pocketed R250,000 bonuses, from the ‘special board of governors’.
“It was a fruitful meeting and everything was done above board. The clubs even wanted executive committee members to get more money, but the chair refused it,” the source told City Press.
“We are happy with the once-off grant as it will come in handy during this period of buying players.”
