Zambia reached the final after beating Tanzania 4-2 on Wednesday evening.
But Shonga, who netted a brace in that game, has urged his team to strive for an improved all-round performance to ensure they beat neighbouring Zimbabwe at the Moruleng Stadium on Sunday.
“Against Tanzania we didn’t have much possession. We just wanted to find the back of the net,” the Nkwazi marksman told the Lusaka Times.
“We just have to work on ball possession. We shouldn’t give away the ball too much so that we can outplay our opponents,” he added.
Zambia and Zimbabwe have equally shared eight previous Cosafa titles between them.
