Patosi ready for City debut

Cape Town City playmaker Ayanda Patosi says expectations won’t weigh him down as he prepares for his professional bow in South African football.

The African Soccer Development Academy graduate left Cape Town for Belgian side Lokeren six years ago where he forged himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

However, the Citizens managed to prize the 24-year-old back to the Premiership as the marquee off-season signing to send shockwaves amongst local media.

Now the Bafana Bafana midfielder says the performances of the overall team under new head coach Benni McCarthy will take first preference – over his individual brilliance many fans will be expecting of him.

“I don’t think there will be much pressure on me or that people will be expecting me to perform miracles just because I come from Belgium,” he told Soccer Laduma.

“The one thing that I have in mind is to make sure that Cape Town City is winning. On and off the field, I have to be there for the team,” he added.

“The guys at Cape Town City have welcomed me very well and now I feel at home.”
