Nyirenda praises trio of U20 stars

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda has praised the impact of U20 stars Solomon Sakala, Moses Nyondo and Boston Muchindu in the senior set-up.

The trio starred for the nation’s junior national team in reaching the U20 World Cup quarter-finals recently, as they beat the likes of Germany and Portugal along the way.

The three young players could be involved when Chipolopolo meet Botswana in Saturday’s COSAFA Cup clash at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in South Africa.

He told Zambia’s Daily Mail, “The under-20 players already understand our philosophy and what we want. They have done well and we are happy with competition. We have a squad that will beat Botswana on Saturday and take us to the semi-finals.”

Meanwhile, Football Association of Zambia vice-president Rix Mweemba wants the team to win the tournament; “Morale is high among the players. They are looking forward to the game on Saturday. Our target is that the team must lift the cup.”
