New Liverpool CEO Peter Moore says that he and sporting director Michael Edwards are fully behind manager Jurgen Klopp.
Moore takes over from Ian Ayre, and has promised that he the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, will make funds available for big transfers.
“My job is to provide him, through FSG with the resources he and Michael need to be successful,” Moore told Sky Sports News.
“It’s also to take a little bit of pressure off him. During the period where my predecessor left there was a gap before I was starting and Jurgen had become the face of the club both on and off the pitch
“He stated that he was looking forward to me coming to take that pressure off. It’s critical that we give him every opportunity to focus purely on what is on the pitch.
“But we’re in together as one team here. Jurgen, Michael, and myself all report into FSG.
“My role as the CEO is to continue to think how I can make the team successful. It’s a dream job, but it’s a job, let’s be very clear – there’s work to do here.”
Moore went on to praise Klopp as not just a great manager, but a unique individual capable of inspiring those around.
“One of the things you have to take into consideration is the power of this man Jurgen Klopp. We can all see that this is a very special individual here,” he added.
“In football and in my career I have seen hundreds of different types of manager and I can tell you I have never seen anyone like Jurgen.
“There are managers who manage through command and control and tell the players what to do. And then there are managers who manage through motivation because the players want to give everything for their manager and Jurgen Klopp is the latter.
