Ndlovu would give old Zim shirt to Mugabe

Zimbabwe football legend Peter Ndlovu revealed the tremendous pride he had in playing for his country, and would only give his old shirt to President Robert Mugabe.

Capped 100 times from 1991 until 2007 during which time he banged in 38 goals, Ndlovu is now team manager for South African outfit Mamelodi Sundowns.

He told the BBC, “Everytime that I wore this jersey, I was trembling to do well. I was actually challenged to do well because leading the national team, everything is in your hands regardless of whether you score or not. The important thing is the national flag.

“This is my number one jersey and I can only part with this jersey to present it to my President, Comrade Robert Mugabe. This I can give to my President.”

Ndlovu spent 14 years in England playing his club football for the likes of Coventry City, Birmingham, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United.
