The Colombia international has been linked with the Spanish side for some time, and he arrived for his medical last Sunday (9 July) before the agreement was officially reached.
As such, it has now been confirmed that the star will join The White and Reds for the 2017/18 campaign and beyond. The value of the deal is said to be in the region of €20m plus bonuses.
Last season Muriel bagged 13 goals in 33 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria, and is expected to bring some cutting edge to Sevilla’s attack.
“Luis Muriel has successfully passed his medical tests and signed his contract as planned, so he’s officially a new Sevilla player for the next five seasons,” the club’s official website said.
“The Colombian international striker, who arrives at Nervion after succeeding in Italy with Sampdoria, will be at the disposal of (Coach) Eduardo Berizzo from today, and becomes Sevilla’s third signing of the season.”
