Mamelodi Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe instructed club officials to do everything in their power to make sure Keagan Dolly was able to secure a move to Montpellier in France’s Ligue 1.
Sundowns confirmed the sale had gone through after there was a delay on the deal due to paperwork and the transfer of funds. The 24-year-old signed a four-and-a-half year contract with La Paillade.
Sundowns have since confirmed the transfer and have pointed out that Motsepe was instrumental in a deal taking place.
Sundowns CEO, Sizwe Nzimande, said on the club’s official website, “The President of Mamelodi Sundowns, Mr Patrice Motsepe gave us clear instructions to do everything possible to help Keagan Dolly realize his dream of playing in Europe.
“I often had to ignore the false and irresponsible statements by Keagan’s agent, Paul Mitchell, which would have frustrated the transfer. The president is very proud of Keagan and wishes him everything of the very best.”
