Mobara: Pirates can still win title

Orlando Pirates utility man Abbubaker Mobara says the title race is not over despite playing to a disappointing 0-0 draw with Platinum Stars on Wednesday.

On the return to Premiership action, the Buccaneers fans were expecting the Soweto giants to turn the corner with a win against the relegation threatened Dikwena, but the managerless outfit struggled to find a way past a determined Cavin Johnson led side.

However, Mobara, the club’s marquee off-season signing from Ajax Cape Town, says they still believe they can win the league while also discussing the current head coach rumours.

“We have been unlucky with results,” the South Africa international told IOL. “We expected to hammer Platinum Stars, to be honest. It’s only a matter of time before we click.

“We still stand a good chance of winning the championship, we just have to start collecting points.

“I think when the [Irvin Khoza] chairman is ready to hire someone permanently, he will. Right now coach Palacios is in charge and we have not been told anything different.”

Pirates are currently in 10, nine points behind leaders Supersport United and take on Champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday at Loftus Versveld Stadium.
