Mignolet: Coutinho is our Hazard

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has described playmaker Philippe Coutinho to be influential as Chelsea forward Eden Hazard.

The Brazilian has played an crucial role at the Mersyside club this season as they go in search of a top four finish, and a return to the Champions League.

Coutinho has scored 13 goals in 36 goals, and has been linked a lucrative with a moves away from Anfield, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona known as keen admirers.

“They cannot really put one marker on to him. Philippe can distribute the ball in a brilliant way,” Mignolet told the Liverpool Echo.

“In the Premier League you need creative players to open games up. You look at Chelsea, they have Eden Hazard. Manchester City have Raheem Sterling, David Silva or Kevin De Bruyne.

“He is a good boy who works hard. He is very important to us,” said Mignolet.

“It was a big positive that he signed that new contract. We all hope he stays at Liverpool for many years to come.”

Despite signing a new deal at the beginning of the year, the Brazil international continues to make headlines with a potential switch to the Camp Nou.

The 24-year-old has revealed he is honoured to be linked with the Blaugrana, but is currently on focusing on helping Liverpool reach the Europe’s elite cup competition

“I have a contract with Liverpool, there are two games, there are a lot of chances for us to be in the Champions League next year,” he was quoted as saying by ESPN earlier this week.
