On Thursday, the 19-year old’s club issued a statement on their official website confirming that an initial offer from Manchester City had been received and rejected, but that negotiations were continuing.
“There was a meeting between our club board members and the officials of Manchester City for four hours about the transfer of our young player Cengiz Under,” it read. “An agreement has not been reached yet after the negotiations.”
Following the news, the player, who has drawn comparisons with Paolo Dybala, spoke with Turkish news agency Milliyet about his future and made it clear that he would welcome a move to the Premier League.
“Among the leagues I want to play in are La Liga, the Bundesliga and the Premier League, but I want to play in the Premier League the most,” he said.
