Mamelodi Sundowns 0-0 Chippa United

Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a 0-0 draw in the second half of their reconvened Premiership clash with Chippa United on Wednesday morning.

The two sides kicked off at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday night, but the match had to be abandoned in the 42nd minute as a result of a power failure.

They returned on Wednesday and completed the tie, where Chippa were successful in holding out for a point.

Sundowns were nominally the brighter of the two sides, but struggled to get into their rhythm with so little time to play with.

Percy Tau was a live wire for the Brazilians as was Fares Hachi with his runs down the left-flank.

Chippa looked threatening through Menzi Masuku on the left flank, and Thapelo Morena had to time his tackle well after a quick break forward from Chippa to deny the player from getting a shot away in the box.

Substitute Leonardo Castro then forced a super reaction save with his feet from Daniel Akpeyi as he fired in a 76th minute shot after being fed by fellow substitute Teko Modise.

Thabang Thopola, meanwhile, soon forced Wayne Sandilands into an excellent low save to his right from range as Modise shot just past the right-hand post in the 84 minute.

And with the match winding down, Sundowns dominated possession, but without finding the breakthrough, leaving them in fifth place on the standings, and Chippa in ninth.
