The German Bundesliga outfit are eager to replenish their attack after the departure of Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, who signed for West Ham, and have moved on Alario.
“The 24-year-old international has invoked his buyout clause at River Plate Buenos Aires with the support of the Bundesliga side and the transfer fee has now been paid. That means the player is no longer under contract,” Leverkusen revealed on their website.
Alario joined River Plate in 2015 and has since scored 31 goals and provided 10 assists in 71 competitive games.
He has also made three appearances for Argentina and scored his first international goal in June.
