Lakay returns to Cape Town

Ambitious Premiership side Cape Town City have announced the signing of Lyle Lakay from domestic rivals Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Cape Town-born winger has been subject to a transfer tug-of-war between the leagues biggest club’s but the Citizens have won the race to secure the signature of the 25-year-old.

According to City’s official Twitter account, the former SuperSport United winger signed a three-year contract with Benni McCarthy’s side and his arrival will now soften the void of Aubrey Ngoma – who suffered a serious knee injury to rule him out for five months.

After finishing in third place last season, the Cape Town based side have been active in the transfer market with Bafana Bafana playmaker Ayanda Patosi and Mozambican defender Jeitoso also arriving at the club.

Lakay featured 109 times, scoring seven goals and registering 13 assists during his five year stint at Siwelele.
