CAF Champions League-winning manager Zlatco Krmpotic has been confirmed as Zambian side Zesco United’s new head coach.
Zesco, Champions League semi-finalists in 2016, have been without a coach since George Lwandamina departed for Tanzania outfit Yanga in November last year.
Krmpotic has previously worked in Sweden, Macedonia, Turkey, his home country Serbia, Kuwait and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
A club statement confirmed his appointment, stating: “Zesco United Football Club is pleased to announce that it has appointed Serbian National Zlatko Krmpotic as the head coach with immediate effect.
“The 58-year-old former TP Mazembe coach and 2015 CAF Champions League winner is expected to report for work next week in Ndola where the official introduction to the players and other members of the technical bench.
“The Serbian has signed a two year performance based contract with a buyout clause in an event that he wants to leave and a one year option of contract extension.”
