Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela admits three points is what matters the most during this stage of the season, following the 1-0 win over Chippa United.
Saturday evening victory at the Mbombela Stadium put Amakhosi level on points with league leaders Cape Town City on 45 points, with six rounds of fixtures still to be played.
While Chiefs have played more than their title rivals, the maximum points were crucial in order to remain within touching distance of the title race, between the Citizens, Bidvest Wits and champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Any point counts at the stage,” he said after the Premiership encounter, where his inspired substitute George Lebese won the game late on. “The game was a spectacle for the supporters.”
“We made a few changes, including bringing on George Lebese and it worked,” he added. “With Edmore having worked hard in the first half, we thought that Lebese with his finesse will give us something different.
“And, I remember telling the bench that George will score for us tonight and that’s exactly what happened.”
