Kolisi – ‘We lost to ourselves’

Stormers captain Siya Kolisi says his side made too many mistakes in the 17-11 Super Rugby quarter-final loss to the Chiefs on Saturday.

Kolisi’s try and SP Marais’ two penalties were not enough as the Chiefs scored through a Shaun Stevenson try and four Damian McKenzie penalties.

And Kolisi believes his side were responsible for their own undoing but that they are a young group with a bright future and will learn from this experience.

“We tried to slow everything down and play the game at our pace so they couldn’t play the game they wanted,” Kolisi told the post-match press conference.

“We lost, but there are a lot of positives we could take out.

“We lost to ourselves today, we made all the mistakes.

“We are a young side. We have a lot to look forward to.”
