Amid speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona, Everton boss Ronald Koeman feels this isn’t the right time to sign a contract extension at Goodison Park.
Following a remarkable 4-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks.
Koeman, a former Barcelona player and assistant manager, has emerged as a candidate to take over the reins at the Nou Camp, having only joined the Toffees on a three-year deal from Southampton at the start of the season.
Speaking to the press ahead of his side’s Premier League match against Sunderland, Koeman said he isn’t interested in signing an extension with Everton at the moment.
“Not now, no,” Koeman said when asked if he was in negotiations with Everton.
“No, no, let’s wait and see what happens in the future.
“Yeah, OK, links, that’s always what happens, but I think you don’t sign a new contract in your first season if you have three seasons of contract.”
