The 20-year-old goalkeeper, the son of Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann, is a United States U20 international and last played for the University of California.
Hertha view the youngster as a good prospect for the future and he is expected to serve as third-choice for the Bundesliga club, who confirmed he will play for their U23 team in the regional fourth division to gain experience.
Klinsmann expressed his excitement about the move, saying: “It’s a big club, a Europa League participant, essentially a club that you’d like to play for and whose level you’d like to reach.
“To learn from Rune (Jarstein) and Thomas (Kraft) and to play in the second team to get used to the level of play in the Bundesliga is a fantastic opportunity. It was a chance I had to take with both hands.”
