Khuzwayo and Moleko defend Komphela

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo and fellow defender Kgotso Moleko believe coach Steve Komphela is not to blame for poor form, and that players must also take responsibility.

The Glamour Boys went into the current international break off a 2-1 loss to Baroka in the Premiership, and currently trail league leaders Bakgaga by six points in sixth position.

Nonetheless, both both stars take the view that the players need to improve their performances so that Komphela doesn’t take the brunt of the criticism anymore.

Khuzwayo told the Sowetan, “In any family‚ there is a father‚ there’s a mother and there are children. The father is the head‚ so every mistake that happens at home‚ the father should stand up all the time and protect the children.”

Moleko added, “I can say as players I think we owe the coach and we owe the club (to start doing well). It’s so sad to see that people are blaming him and as players we are sad‚ because we are disappointing him. We need to fight together and try to get some results for the club. I think that’s what we can do.”

Following the completion of the FIFA break for international matches, Amakhosi face a potentially crucial league encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns on 17 October.
