Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and captain Itumeleng Khune believes that new recruit Gustavo Paez can make the difference in attack during the second half of 2016/17.
The Venezuelan signed for the Glamour Boys during the January transfer window on a two-and-a-half year deal. It is hoped that the 26-year-old will help solve Chiefs’ woes in front of goal so far this season.
Bernard Parker is the side’s leading scorer from the striking department with a miserly two strikes to his name so far in this campaign.
As such, Khune takes the view that Paez can make an impact for the Steve Komphela-coached outfit. He told the club’s official website: “Gustavo is mobile. He is quick and he has been scoring in the friendlies we played. He will bring another dimension to the team.”
Meanwhile, former Amakhosi star Jose Torrealba is confident the forward can do well. The 36-year-old played with Paez for one season at Deportivo Lara in Venezuela.
He said, “Gutavo is a good striker. He’s quick and more mature than when I played with him in 2013. He played in several countries. Experiencing such a variety of cultures is very important. I am sure he will do well at Chiefs.”
