Kaizer Chiefs v SuperSport United

SuperSport United midfielder Dean Furman will miss Wednesday night’s clash with Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium through suspension.

The Bafana Bafana player was sent off in his side’s 2-0 Tshwane derby defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Chiefs meanwhile picked up a point in their opening league match of the 2017/18 season with a 1-1 draw away to Bloemfontein Celtic.

Amakhosi goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was absent for the game through a chest infection while midfielder George Maluleka missed out due to a knee issue.

The weekend before that, the Soweto giants and Matsatsantsa engaged in an MTN8 quarter-final showdown, a match SuperSport won 1-0 despite Chiefs enjoying large passages of the play.

“We dominated our match against them in the MTN8 quarterfinal,” Glamour Boys defender Sibusiso Khumalo told his club’s website.

“We know how they play. We were supposed to win the first game and we will definitely make amends on Wednesday. We are eying the three points.”

SuperSport boss Eric Tinkler meanwhile spoke recently about the importance of his players lifting the goal-scoring burden off Jeremy Brockie.

“It’s not only about Jeremy, it’s about everybody providing in order for Jeremy to score. It’s not only about Jeremy, if no one is providing he is not going to be able to do it on his own.

“So it is about everyone understanding what their roles and responsibilities are and understanding we have a lot of quality in attack,” said Tinkler.

Wednesday night’s game kicks off at 19H30.
