The pair played together with the Urban Warriors before Pienaar departed for Europe where he enjoyed huge personal success most notably for English Premier League outfit, Everton.
However, now in the twilight of his career, the attacking midfielder has since returned home and will now do duty for the Clever Boys in 2017/18 alongside Josephs.
Nonetheless, the shot-stopper believes a more experienced Pienaar will add value to the defending Premiership champions. He told the Sowetan, “We played together at Ajax, but that time it was the circus Schillo – the guy who did all the tricks, the skilful Schillo.
“It’s a more structured, more matured Steven Pienaar now. It’s not like he doesn’t have the legs to keep going, but he understands the game a bit more and he doesn’t have to do that much running to move the ball around.”
