Guardado poised for PSV exit

PSV Eindhoven midfielder Andres Guardado is set to leave the Eredivisie side after accepting a four-year contract to join newly formed Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles FC.

Reports surfacing from ESPN FC claim the 30-year-old utility midfielder won’t see out his final year at Phillip Cocu’s side in favor of a move to the US – as the club’s marquee signing for their maiden MLS season.

A vastly experienced European footballer with 133 caps for Mexico to his name already, will no doubt be a major blow for the Dutch side as they look to build a side capable of winning the Dutch top-flight next season.

Since joining Boeren in 2015 from Valencia, the diminutive midfielder has been a colossal figure in Eindhoven with 19 assists in the past two seasons, only bettered by Heerenveen’s Sam Larsson and Hakim Ziyech of Ajax.

It’s unclear when Guardado will officially depart from the Philips Stadion with the new MLS season only commencing in March next year.
