Andres Guardado says he is excited to return to the Spanish Primera Division after signing a three-year deal with Real Betis.
The Mexico international joins the ambitious Spanish side after three seasons with PSV Eindhoven where he won succesive league titles in his first two seasons.
Initially signed as a tireless defensive midfielder by Phillip Cocu’s side, the diminutive Mexican left Boeren with a glowing reputation as a technically gifted box-to-box midfielder after featuring 102 times for the club.
And with rumours of his potential exit to the MLS with Los Angeles FC, the Confederations Cup semi-finalist shocked all by being unveiled as a Béticos player.
“There are not enough words…The way you have made me feel throughout these three wonderful years, since the moment I got to Eindhoven,” he said upon his exit from the Eredivisie giants.
However, in reference to his return to Spain, the 139-time capped Mexican said; “I am excited to form part of this great project with you all. I thank you all for placing your trust in me.”
Betis has reportedly paid PSV around €2 million for Guardado and the contract will run until 2020.
