The Bangladesh Cricket Board have included four new players in their list of contracted players that was released recently including spinning sensation Mehedi Hasan.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Mosaddek Hossain and Taskin Ahmed make up the remaining three to be handed contracts for the first time while Nasir Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain and Arafat Sunny have missed out having played little cricket for Bangladesh in the last year.
Taskin and Mosaddek have been rewarded with Grade C contracts worth US$22,500 joining Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain on the fourth tier.
Mehedi and Kamrul have been given Grade D contracts with the remuneration at that level increased from $11,250 to $15,000, they join spinner Taijul Islam on the lowest rank.
The Grade B contracts were awarded to players who have established themselves as consistent performers over the last year this rank includes three batsmen Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque and Soumya Sarkar and allrounder Sabbir Rahman.
The quartet will earn $30,000 this year.
Mahmudullah has been given a rank all to himself as he slots in between the foot soldiers and the elite performers which is indicative of his position within the team, he will earn $45,000 having been demoted from A grade.
In the top tier are the Tigers’ three skippers Mushfiqur Rahim (ODI), Shakib Al Hasan (T20I), Mashrafe Mortaza (Test) and star opener Tamim Iqbal who averaged 48.90 in ODIs during the 2016/17 season.
The skippers and their deputies in each format will receive a bonus on top of their contracted salary and match fees.
Captains will receive just under US$3000 per annum while the vice-captains get just under $1500.
