Ex-Pirates star backs Shonga to shine

Former Orlando Pirates striker Andries Sebola believes the club’s new signing, Justin Shonga, can deliver goals for the Sea Robbers if he gets the right supply.

The Zambia international, who caught the eye in the recent Cosafa Cup where he scored three goals for the Copper Bullets, has reportedly been brought in to replace Tendai Ndoro, who departed for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Faisaly.

However, Sebola takes the view that Bucs coach Milutin Sredojevic must adopt a more aggressive attacking approach. Thus far in 2017/18, the Sea Robbers have scored just four times in six Premiership matches.

He told SowetanLIVE, “The strikers are not bad and I think they can deliver. I also believe Shonga is going to be very good to them, but they have to get the supply right, that is crosses from the wings.

“I think Micho (Sredojevic) must change his formation a little bit going forward, because there’s a lack of supply to the strikers. Pirates’ game is too involved in the midfield. So they are not creating enough chances (at the moment).”
