As of 1 April 2020, four African sovereign states have yet to report a case of COVID-19: Comoros, Lesotho, South Sudan, and São Tomé and Príncipe (as well as the disputed state of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic).

2. Coronavirus Symptoms

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death. Symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

3. Coronavirus: How to protect yourself

  • Wash your hand with running water. Apply soap between your fingers and under your nails. scrub  for at least 20 seconds and tense
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, throw the tissue in a bin and wash hands. If you don’t have tissue cough or sneeze into your elbow rather than your hands.
  • Face masks offer some protection as they block liquid droplets, although they don’t block smaller aerosol particles.
  • Seek early medical help by phone. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing and share travel history or close to yours.
  • If you have returned from an affected area in China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, and Japan in the last two weeks stay indoors and avoid contact with other people for 14 days.
  • If you have returned from an infected area and develop a high temperature, cough, runny nose, sore throat or difficulty breathing, don’t leave your house until you have been given advice by a doctor.
