Zambian Super Division club City of Lusaka have appointed former player Hector Chilombo as their new head coach.
Chilombo, who replaces the fired Elijah Chikwanda, will have an initial deal that us set to run until the end of the season.
He has vast experience as a coach in his country, having worked at Power Dynamos, Napsa Stars, Forest Rangers, Indeni and Red Arrows.
The club issued a statement on Facebook on Wednesday morning:
“Chilombo, a former City of Lusaka and Zambia national team defender takes over from Elijah Chikwanda, who was relieved of his duties on Sunday. His immediate task will be to guide City to safety.
“Chilombo will be assisted by Davy Musole and another assistant yet to be identified. City of Lusaka Football Club would like to thank Chikwanda for his dedication and contribution to the club during his tenure as head coach.”
After nine rounds of action, ‘Ya Moto’ are in the relegation zone – third from bottom, and have lost their last four matches.
