Cardoso: Chiefs are clicking under Komphela

Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso felt it was just a matter of time before the club clicked under coach Steve Komphela.

Cardoso knows the coach well from their days at Free State Stars, and after a shaky start to the season, they have improved under Komphela, with the club now among the contenders for the league.

They are also still in the running for the Nedbank Cup and were drawn against amateur side Acornbush in the last 16.

“With a new coach and new players, it’s always hard to find the right combinations and the right playing style,” Cardoso told Vodacom Soccer.

“I think now that Steve has been here for a year and a half, the boys are starting to pick up on his ways and his methods. That has helped a lot. This year, we haven’t lost a game yet and I don’t see us losing a game.”

Chiefs visit Baroka FC for a Premiership game in Polokwane on Saturday looking to stretch their unbeaten run to 10 games in all competitions.

“We are coming from a good win against Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup,” Cardoso said. “Everyone is happy at the camp. It’s going well. Hopefully we carry on with our winning streak.”
