Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has praised manager Zinedine Zidane for his calmness and ability to manage world-class players.
Zidane took over as Los Merengues boss in January 2016, and went on to win the Champions League that season. The Frenchman has once again led Real to the final of the competition with a chance to become the first team to successfully defend the title.
Benzema has not been surprised by the success his compatriot has enjoyed at the club as a manager, and has revealed what qualities Zidane brings to the team.
“He has become my manager, but we still have the same relationship. We still have the same respect for each other. We discuss everything, we have exchanges,” he told L’Equipe.
“When things are not going well, he does not mince his words. But when things are going well, he tells me too. Always the same way.
“Success follows him too. After having being an exceptional player, he is in the process of becoming one of the best managers in the world soon. He is calm. He understands and knows how to manage great players.
“What is strong in him, is that he never puts you under pressure on the pitch. You never feel under pressure with him.
“He remains calm. When you see that on the pitch, you are calm too… He makes us play good football. Quite simply.”
