Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter revealed he will have inside information on Nigeria ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Uyo next month.
The Super Eagles are currently within a training camp in Paris as preparation for the fixture and the new head coach of South Africa confirmed he’s sent a Manchester United scout to help supply his technical team with information needed, in order to be suitably prepared for the African giants.
In what will be his second stint for the senior South African national team, Baxter will be keen to get off to a blistering start – to lead the underachieving football nation into a new era under his mentorship.
“I’ve had probably three days away from SuperSport, where I have put my Bafana hat on, and I’ve gained some intelligence on Nigeria‚” he told reporters. “I’ve got the Manchester United scout who’s helping us in Paris.
“Nigeria are playing Corsica at the Ajaccio Stadium in Corsica‚ and against Togo in Paris – and they’re being watched there.
“I’ll get reports on that. I’ve got video footage‚ I’ve got reports‚ I’ve got the coach’s [Gernot Rohr] background,” he added.
“So by the time we come to the event, we’ll be quite well-prepared.”
